A BLACK Country law firm has been shortlisted in two major awards programs in recognition of its corporate agreements and community support.
Higgs LLP is celebrating after being shortlisted in several categories at this year’s Insider’s Midlands Dealmaker Awards, which celebrate the region’s top advisors for business mergers, sales and acquisitions.
Brierley Hill-based Higgs LLP is also a finalist for the Black Country Chamber of Commerce Awards in the Business Commitment to the Community category, honoring the company’s efforts to make a difference for others.
Nick Taylor, Managing Partner, said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted.
“Our corporate team continues to excel and this appointment is testament to everyone’s hard work.
“But, while business excellence is essential, the Chamber of Commerce nomination underscores that we also remain committed to playing a meaningful role in the region through charitable donations and practical assistance.”
As well as Corporate Law Firm of the Year, Higgs was nominated in the International Transaction of the Year category for its involvement in the £15.5 million sale of Clearcomm to Sterlite Technologies.
The firm was also shortlisted for Mid-market Deal of the Year for its advice in the sale of Hydropac to Bunzl, while business leader Richard Griffiths is nominated for Corporate Lawyer of The Year.
The winners will be announced at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on September 22.
The Chamber Awards ceremony will take place on September 16.
Some of the company’s community activities include providing wellbeing packs to Black Country Women’s Aid, raising £2,700 for men’s mental health CIC The Black Country Blokes and raising over £10,000 for regional charities through an annual six-a-side football tournament.
Higgs has also spearheaded initiatives to boost diversity and launched her Proud Together LGBTQ+ and Allies network, while offering career advice to young people through her work as a Cornerstone employer.
