Law firm overcomes Covid ‘shockwaves’ to post 12% growth

Howes Percival has reported a 12% increase in revenue and profit since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Leicester-based law firm has achieved a turnover of £26.3m in the past 12 months – up from £23.4m at the start of 2020 – and has appointed almost 100 new recruits after enjoying “very strong” growth in key areas such as business and commerce. , property and labor law.

The expanding company, which also has an office in Northampton, recently promoted Hannah Pryce and Alexandra Kirkwood to partner level and says it plans to continue its upward trajectory this year after successfully overcoming the challenges posed by the pandemic.

Geraint Davies, Chairman and Leicester Partner at Howes Percival, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the performance of the business over the past two years. Like everyone else, we experienced the shock waves during the outbreak of the pandemic, but we were able to adapt quickly to new ways of working to support our customers and take advantage of the opportunities that arose in certain sectors. We have experienced very strong growth in key areas such as business and commerce, real estate, litigation, labor law and private client services.

“The pandemic has presented a unique set of challenges, but the business has responded strongly. We made a conscious decision to continue investing in people and technology during the pandemic, to ensure we were in the best possible position when we came out the other side, and it is now paying off. We see the momentum continuing and accordingly expect further double-digit growth this year as well. »

The business opened in Leicester in 1997 from an office in New Walk, but has since established a larger operation at Meridian Business Park.

Davies said: “When it comes to marking 25 years of Howes Percival in Leicester, we wanted to shine a light on what makes it a fantastic city to live, work and do business. We saw this as an opportunity, not just to recognize the achievements of our Leicester office, but to give something meaningful back to the community.

He added: “Our employees have been an integral part of the planning for the celebrations and the entire office has come together in a true team effort to support the events taking place throughout the year.”
